Purpose
The Potter's House is designed to help men who have been in
crisis situations heal and be restored to perfect mental and
physical health. We are a wholistic ministry, working with
the whole man knowing when he completed the program, he will
leave with a mind to be productive in every area of life.
We have licensed mental health personnel to come in on an
as needed basis to assess each resident. We deal in many areas
with the residents. Just to name a few; addictive behaviors,
job readiness, and computer literacy. We also host a food
pantry which provides for special and emergency needs in the
community.
Residents of the Potter's House
oversee the delivery of food and the pantry. They are also
involved in other areas of service to the community, such
as assisting the elderly.
History
The Potter's House was opened on January 2, 2002 by a young
man named Ron Daugherty, a native Lithonian. Ron's past life
before salvation, was a life of addictive behavior and riotous
living. Ron has a compassion for hurting people and has been
called to see men set free from their addictions and take
their rightful place in their families, communities, and society.
He has a different method, but a working method. The hallmark
of this ministry is the love and compassion Ron has for hurting
people and his desire to see them whole and set free.
Who
Are We ?
We are a group of staff and volunteers from Word Church International.
There are also volunteers who work for us from other ministries.
We have Bible Studies daily and regeneration classes for substance
abuse daily. The residents of the Potter's House are mentored
day and night. They participate in all church functions and
activities and usually become members of the church.
What
Do We Do ?
The Potter's House is a Christian based ministry focusing
passion on Christ. The first 30 to 60 days is a period designed
to get the men back to healthy thinking and a better way of
life. After the initial phase of focusing, some start jobs
or go back to the ones they held before entering the Potter's
House. Every resident must get a job to become and remain
a self-sufficient individual (Learning to take care of himself
and be responsible). Physical exercise is encouraged. We work
hard on helping them get their lives back together. After
starting work each resident pays a program fee. After the
program fee, each resident receives an allowance and all other
monies collected in the account will be given to the resident
along with a certificate of completion. This is for a new
start.
Perhaps you or someone you
know and love needs to be in this kind of environment. If
you are willing to live in a structured Christian environment,
The Potter's House is for you.
